Mormons are told that when they die they will be Gods and rule over all of us nonbelievers. Some are not waiting to start. Egotistic self-righteous bunch. I live in a small Mormon town, a missionary training center in fact. Ugh.

slimboyfat joins the Mormons!
by slimboyfat ini know that some people on the board have experience of being mormons, so i would be interested in your feedback.
at church this afternoon it was an uncanny experience.
in the past i've read a lot about mormons, so i thought i was prepared in general for what it would be like.

Why Are You Here?
by Believer ini'm wondering why believers remain members of this forum which is clearly hostile to believers.
as one member said, nonbelievers pounce on any semblance of belief like piranhas on prey.
as former jws we should have had our fill of judgmental know-it-alls, but here we are.

Shibboleth or Sibboleth?
by stuckinarut2 init seems that for a witness to keep up with the ever changing doctrines, teachings, beliefs and ideas of the society is a way to identify a so called "spiritual one" compared to a "weak or non spiritual" one!.
just like the account in "gideon's time", if someone did not pronounce the word shibboleth correctly, they were viewed with suspicion or even killed!.
so too, if one doesn't know the latest "truth", they are to be viewed with suspicion or caution!.

Actually, these days, few give a rats ass about the minutia of the Truth. After all it changes with the wind and on the hour. Its more about whether you have the proper electronics, badges and can conceal your movie viewing habits successfully.

Who was more selfless? Jesus or Brenda Lee Marquez McCool?

I find it fascinating that this logic is so clear that a "Jesus" believer won't respond. It shows how weak the argument for a self sacrificing messiah really is when compared to reality. Thanks for your comments "fearless 7" as I have now named you! LOL

Jesus was a perfect sinless human (they say) who came to die for mankind. He gave up his perfect life for all. Selfless? He was promised he would have world ruler-ship if he were faithful to death. Promised he would be brought back to life and elevated to the right hand of God. Told he could once again be God's special one over all others. How selfless was it for him to die? Look at all the perks of completing his mission.
Brenda Lee Marquez McCool was the mother of a 21 year old gay boy who went to a bar with him to salsa dance. She had fought and beaten cancer twice. When a crazed gunman headed in their direction firing, she yelled "get down" and jumped in front of her son taking two bullets saving her son's life and ending her own. She was NOT a perfect human. She had no promise of special status with God for doing it. No promise of kingship in heaven. It was a simple act of love and selflessness.
Who was more selfless? I vote Brenda over king Jesus. How about you?

We had a brother in our circuit who had a voice that was high pitched and SO feminine. Yes he was married, none the less he couldn't say hello without everyone looking at each other in disbelief. His signature talk? "A Godly View of Sex & Marriage". I never laughed so hard in my life and we just couldn't bare to bring him back again. Oddly enough he was on so many Circuit assemblies in the 80's I couldn't get through the program without astonishment. I am sure if he weren't a true believer he would have been in drag.

The clip is from the movie San Andreas, a full fledged Hollywood blockbuster, the original rip was stealing from Newline Cinema and you received stolen goods by using it again. Tsk Tsk. -

Should I stay married to my JW wife
by gatorguy inme and my wife were at the beach the other day and i finally told her, i don't think i believe in god anymore.
i fessed up to the fact that it started with me doubting some jw beliefs and then it just led me to this point where i don't even believe in god.
i wouldn't say that i even have a negative view towards jw's or religion in general.

If you love her how could you ask this question? I don't get it. If you are fighting all the time and miserable I could see it. Will it be that way? Only you can determine. NO kids if you are this fickle. Good luck.
